Desktop Web Testing

Overview

As we know that cross-browser testing has become a major asset for businesses to stay ahead in the competitive market. pCloudy's Browser Cloud enables user to test desktop web apps on various browsers-OS combinations to ensure that it is working fine across all platforms.

This document exebhits procedure for both manual and automated cross-browser testing.

Prerequisites

User needs to be registered on pCloudy platform

Manual Testing

Follow these steps to test the web apps manually:

Important Note - The steps to test the web apps manually vary slightly between the New User Interface and Old User Interface. For steps using the Old UI, please scroll down.

Steps to perfrom Manual Web Testing on the New UI

Step 1

Login to the patform, using your existing credentials.

Step 2

Select Browsers on the start page.

As per your browser requirement connect to any available machine.

Once connected you are ready to start your testing on the desired browser.

You cam perform different tasks like, taking a sreenshot, changing the screen resolution, etc. Simply click on the quick actions pane to select and perform these tasks.

Once the user has completed the web testing, the user can release the browser, by clicking on the Release button on the top right corner.

4 Resolution

To change resolution of the machine, follow these steps:

  • Connect a machine
  • Once the machine is connected, click on the Resolution dropdown list from the quick actions Pane
  • Select the required resolution
5 Wildnet

Wildnet is used to test local sites which are accessible in restricted environments.

To use wildnet follow the below mentioned steps:

  • Connect a Machine
  • Select the wildnet option from the quick actions Pane
  • Hover the cursor over the Wildnet icon to see the tooltip
  • Click on “here” to know how to initiate wildnet

Note : Locatsite is currently available for only manual sessions.

Click on the Screenshot button under the Quick Actions Pane to capture screenshots.

You can access the saved screenshots from the Gallery.

You can click on Edit to edit your screenshots and Save them with a different name to identify and report any bugs.

Automation testing

To run automation on Browsers cloud, users need to include the capabilities mentioned below, in their selenium script.

Steps to get the API key in the New User Interface (New UI)

Step 1 - Login to your registered account on device.pcloudy.com

Step 2 - Click on your initals given at the top right corner of the screen and click on Profile

Step 3 - You can find your API access key here. You can copy the same or click on Regenerate to get a new one.

Steps to perfrom Manual Web Testing on the Old UI

Step 1

Login to the registered pCloudy account.

Step 2

Click on the Browsers tab.

As per your browser requirement connect the available machine.

Once connected you are ready to start your testing on the desired browser.

In case you navigate to other tabs on pCloudy and wish to go back to the connected machine.

  • Go to Reports tab
  • Click on My Active Session
  • Click on icon as shown below
4 Resolution

To change resolution of the machine, follow these steps:

  • Connect a machine
  • Once the machine is connected, click on the Resolution dropdown list
  • Select the required resolution
5 Wildnet

To get Cloud URL and API access key

  • Go to profile

  • Click on Settings

  • Copy the Cloud URL and API Access_Key as shown below
