Let me just get started okay here's the agenda so we will uh see what x XE test is we'll begin with understanding uh the

Basic introduction about uh what is exed test and then followed by uh some of the challenges you know uh that we face in the

Exit test framework uh when we run it on the local environment and then we will touch base on uh what is Pcloudy and

How does it help in terms of the parallel execution and uh we'll also have a quick uh live demo uh where I will be

Uh showcasing you know uh how to integrate the the Pcloudy with the xcode and you know run your ex exit test exitus project

On the platform and execute with parall execution and then we'll have a quick uh Q&A session okay so let's understand what is xe test

So XE test is uh you know Apple's official framework for testing applications uh using xcode so this uh framework supports both uh Swift as
Shueb Ahmed
Well as the object C so just like an Android studio uh the excode also provides a very feature Rich uh software testing capabilities for
Shueb Ahmed
Developers and know so that they can significantly help them to enhance the stability of the software and with the help of excode know the
Shueb Ahmed
Excode provides the XC test wherein they can extremely um uh you know extremely helpful for achieving and building the better quality of the software
Shueb Ahmed
So you can thoroughly test the iOS apps and regardless if it is done in unit level or you know even at the UI level
Shueb Ahmed
So this will enhance and improve the user experience and accelerate the adoption of those sort of apps

So exus is not a new framework you know but it has you know evolved quite well with xcode releases uh and uh in fact

You know the XE test framework was introduced with excode five that you know couple of years ago so with XE test basically it does
Shueb Ahmed
Allow to does allow its users basically to do the unit test of our excode project uh Bas mainly on the iOS apps and um
Shueb Ahmed
It is cons currently considered as one of the top options for IOS app testing so you can write any uh test with XE test
Shueb Ahmed
And um it's a a treal task for iOS developers because you know the xit test is fully compatible with both object Objective C and
Shueb Ahmed
Also the Swift and also in addition all the test uh classes and developers creating xcode projects are basically the sub classes of uh the
Shueb Ahmed
Exitus cases so it's predominantly overall in a nutshell if we talk about xit test it's a automation framework uh which was uh introduced by
Shueb Ahmed
Apple uh so where the developers can quickly uh do the unit testing of their iOS apps okay now let's while there are some advantages
Shueb Ahmed
Of using the XT test all right so uh it's pretty easy to learn and you can quickly create your uh test and um also
Shueb Ahmed
Uh since there is a support for a native language as the tool is developed uh you know as tool is developed within the same
Shueb Ahmed
Framework so there are some uh challenges uh when it comes to XC test uh when this gets executed on the local environment so let's
Shueb Ahmed
Uh look at some of the uh challenges when you execute your test scripts on the local physical devices so what happens so the the
Shueb Ahmed
Number one is the test execution on multiple devices uh the two in case if you want to run it parallel so there's a great
Shueb Ahmed
Uh challenge uh wherein uh when you're uh executing the physical uh executing the script by connecting a physical device to the machine so there
Shueb Ahmed
Is an always challenge uh you know in order to run it on multiple devices so uh so how how do you run in such
Shueb Ahmed
Cases uh so it has to be you know either you connect it to a different physical devices by using a US USB H but
Shueb Ahmed
There is a limited but there is a limitation towards it right and hence uh there's a great challenge when it comes to test execution
Shueb Ahmed
And also when it comes to cic CD integration part uh so uh if you plan to you know um run your cicd pipeline uh
Shueb Ahmed
And by integrating the exit test so with the conventional way there's always a challenge it's not a straightforward process it's pretty much complicated uh
Shueb Ahmed
You know it it involves various configurations of the xcode with the uh the cicd pipelines uh you you can name the different CI servers
Shueb Ahmed
Which available so it is across uh you know the challenges are pretty much there and it's a complicated process uh so be either genkin
Shueb Ahmed
Team City bamboo or any other CI pipeline so there is a complicated way of uh you know testing it on the different uh you
Shueb Ahmed
Know the different cicd integration and when it comes to the reports segment side so the reports can only be viewed only on the Mac
Shueb Ahmed
Machine so that is also one of the limitations so while you uh while the xcode is being installed on the uh MAC machines but
Shueb Ahmed
U report viewing right is something which is only readable in the Mac machine so this is also one of the uh limitations uh when
Shueb Ahmed
You execute this on the local environment with the physical devices and uh there are no real performance metrics are available all right so when
Shueb Ahmed
We talk about performance uh metric so this can be uh with related to the CPU uh the uh memory CPU consumption the memory consumptions

The logs and the uh the network chat and so on so it's not a straightforward uh with excord so you always have to be
Shueb Ahmed
Dependent on third party tools you have to configure the third party tools with your xcode and then you start monitoring it but there is
Shueb Ahmed
Nothing as such with the xcode which will help you monitor the uh performance metric which is not quite readily uh readily available so in
Shueb Ahmed
Case if you would like to understand from the performance uh point of view uh on the different metrics key performance metrics then uh uh
Shueb Ahmed
Then it's always a challenge all right so this is also one of the challenges uh with the exit test execution on the local device
Shueb Ahmed
And uh of course there is no video recording of the execution also available if you are running it on the local physical devices uh
Shueb Ahmed
There are certain uh so there's no inbuilt Tool uh you know which can uh help while that to while the script script is getting
Shueb Ahmed
Executed so there's no way that you record it during the automation so that hampers basically your debugging uh time all right so so so
Shueb Ahmed
Let's uh try and see how we can uh you know uh how we can go up these challenges how Pcloudy can help you

These challenges uh to address it so PE cloudy just to give an introduction uh p is basically uh it's a uh cloud based uh

Continuous testing platform which provides uh the access to the real physical uh devices by connecting remotely so that you can test your uh mobile

Apps uh be it Android devices or iOS devices and uh uh not just manual testing the users can also perform automation testing by using

Uh the different automation Solutions especially when it comes to uh APM uh and uh also exits for that matter so that's about uh uh

Pcloudy and uh can also integrate with this the devops the devops tools in case if you are using any tools like Jenkin team

City bamboo and uh any other devop tools then you can certainly integrate uh P clouding so we have uh plugins and as well as

The apis the rest API so which you can pretty much use it within your pipelines and you can quickly trigger your automation uh test

Directly from on the pipeline so that's about uh Pcloudy and now uh in the particular uh with respect to the exit test framework

Right so exitus was something which was recently launched at Pcloudy and uh we will try and help you know the scripts that are

Created in XC test right so we can use the same framework and we can execute it on the P platform and execute on Parallel

Devices all right and uh also benefiting from the various different uh features that we are providing as part of uh the uh platform and

Uh we are also providing some additional features like the reporting site uh where where you can quickly have a look at the on the

Report segment time which talks about the performance metrics what about the challenges that we just uh went through in our previous slide uh we

Will uh showcase uh the some of the challenges that we how we overcome by using the P Lo platform so uh we have recently
Shueb Ahmed
Launched P CL is apis uh for the exit test so which can be helpful uh for uh you know testing your exit test scripts

That are created okay so let's uh quickly uh look at uh into the uh the device clo just to give an overview what are
Shueb Ahmed
The different features uh that Pcloudy brings in so the there are several advantages of uh the device Cloud uh there is unlimited manual
Shueb Ahmed
And automation testing so we are not limiting or we're not restricting the user uh for uh you know testing their mobile applications uh for
Shueb Ahmed
The any restricted time so it's an unlimited uh you can test as long as there is a requirement you can test on any uh
Shueb Ahmed
Devices and uh we have over 2,000 real uh devices which has a combination of browsers and Os combination so it's a pretty much a
Shueb Ahmed
Mix of both the Android and the iOS devices so we have all the latest devices uh uh that are available in the market so

That uh you can test on wide variety of different devices different uh screen sizes and the different operating systems and the uh the networks

As well and uh can also uh not just uh manual testing but also you can do test your you know automation testing for natural
Shueb Ahmed
Interactions as well so we have when it comes to iOS segment uh there are different iOS devices with different OS and versions so it's
Shueb Ahmed
Important that we test our applications on various different devices right uh on the various versions and Os Os right so so we have all
Shueb Ahmed
The different uh devices pretty much available in our cloud and uh as I was just discussing about the reports so you have access to
Shueb Ahmed
The detailed reports on on completion of either a manual test or automation test we will be providing a detailed report so the reports uh
Shueb Ahmed
Has the further details about the uh the session uh that was run so which has the logs and the screenshots and also the videos
Shueb Ahmed
So the entire session is been captured in the form of videos and the uh and the logs so which will be quite useful for
Shueb Ahmed
The further analysis and debugging purpose and we're also providing the performance metrics which I just discussed all right so we are providing the uh

Uh performance metrics for uh the application consumption in terms of the CPU how much uh CPU what is the CPU consumption level at the
Shueb Ahmed
Application Level and uh we are also providing uh the memory consumption and network chat uh so in terms of upload and the uh download
Shueb Ahmed
Speed and uh we also uh providing the uh the network chats and uh when it comes to network simulation so you can pretty much
Shueb Ahmed
Test your application on uh different networking conditions uh different networking conditions so it's very important uh to test your applications on various uh different
Shueb Ahmed
Networks so there are uh some devices which quit with the real SIM cards so in case if you would like to test your applications
Shueb Ahmed
On the real SIM cards then you can pretty much do that however uh we have a network simulation feature which help you to test
Shueb Ahmed
Your application with various upload and download speed so we have created certain profiles with different upload and uh download speed like 2G 3G 4G

And so on so you can pretty much uh test your application on these parameters uh so which will help you understand how your application

Is uh responding with different networking capabilities and uh we also have a feature called wild net feature so this is mainly on the if
Shueb Ahmed
You if you have your application which is U accessed only in the staging server it's a kind of a staging server application uh where
Shueb Ahmed
The application is accessed only in the restricted environment and not accessible outside the network right uh so in such cases we have a feature
Shueb Ahmed
Called wild net feature which will help you test your internal apps right so there is a small executable that needs to be downloaded on
Shueb Ahmed
Your local machine and uh then small command so we have listed down in the documentations you can follow the documentation to understand more about

This wet picture so which will help you to test the uh the application uh which is accessed in the uh local uh site so
Shueb Ahmed
You can test all your internet interet applications and you can also perform the uh localization testing so we have on a feature which will
Shueb Ahmed
Help you test your applications in various different languages provided your application is supporting so you can quickly test your application with the by using
Shueb Ahmed
The uh language uh feature to test your application uh with various different languages and uh as I said uh it's pretty uh in when

It comes to integration it's pretty straightforward and easy so either it be at automation tool or even be at the devops tool right so
Shueb Ahmed
You can pretty much integrated integrate uh with your existing tools and uh quickly uh integrate and run your existing scripts on P platform

So that's about a quick overview on the uh device cloud and some of the advantages that I've just gone through it now let's uh

Try and understand how this integration uh happens with exit test by using thep cloud is API right so the prerequisite for that is uh
Shueb Ahmed
To have an exit test project right so the the project uh to have already early available project which is created on the xcode and
Shueb Ahmed
Uh followed by the cloudy account Pcloudy account is to access the uh devices and uh run the test on uh different devices so
Shueb Ahmed
I have listed down certain steps uh right certain I've captured some screenshots uh or how do you set up your XC test project and
Shueb Ahmed
Uh how do you zip it and uh how do you upload it over the cloud and then start your
Shueb Ahmed
Testing okay let me just uh move ahead so let let's look at some of the steps uh that are required to prepare the exit
Shueb Ahmed
Test package uh to run on the uh Pcloudy platform so as a first steps you have to uh open your xit test project
Shueb Ahmed
And uh uh click on your project select the project uh which have already created in your XC test and uh you can navigate into
Shueb Ahmed
The uh project settings by going into the file select project settings and uh change the derived path okay so change the derived so by
Shueb Ahmed
Default it's uh default location so you have to change the uh default uh the location from default location to the customized Uh custom location
Shueb Ahmed
And provide the path of the application where the application is residing and U once you have provided the location you can pretty much click
Shueb Ahmed
On done and next is uh you have to uh the next is to you know clean Builder uh you have to uh go into
Shueb Ahmed
The U product uh product Tab and go into the clean build folder and uh click on the build for option and use the testing
Shueb Ahmed
Option there in that case and uh once this is done uh you can go into the uh go to folder option where you can
Shueb Ahmed
Quickly uh find the application the application which is residing that you have given it in the path so provide the path of the application
Shueb Ahmed
All right where the application is residing and uh you will uh land upon the application side select the uh the two items right the
Shueb Ahmed
Two items one is the debug iPhone and the other is the XE test run so you have to select these two options and uh
Shueb Ahmed
Just zip it zip this right you have to compress this two items so that uh it is uh compressed in the zip file now

My XT test project is zipped now I can quickly upload this in the uh Pcloudy uh data all right it be cloudy my
Shueb Ahmed
App data which is a cloud location so these are the uh PR requisit that you do before you before you um you know integrate
Shueb Ahmed
The plat before you integrate the XT test with the Pcloudy now I would like to Showcase uh in live uh in the real
Shueb Ahmed
Time uh how this will happen so let me just quickly jump into the uh demo side and uh I will showcase how the integration
Shueb Ahmed
Happens so let me just jump into the P platform so this is the uh uh quick the P platform so it's it's a public
Shueb Ahmed
Cloud uh so there are of course when it comes to offerings there are three different offerings public Cloud private and the on promise so
Shueb Ahmed
Uh let me just showcase the uh uh the integration on the uh public Cloud it remains same across all the different platforms respective as
Shueb Ahmed
A user I'm just logging in of course you have to sign up uh if you have not sign up and login with your uh
Shueb Ahmed
Credentials let me just uh log in into the platform
Shueb Ahmed
With my credentials okay I have just uh logged in into my into the uh into my account so this is the quick dashboard where

You land up so this will basically give the uh uh your application State your applications related details about how many sessions that you have
Shueb Ahmed
Run manual sessions and automation sessions so all that insights you can quickly found uh in the uh my dashboard let me just go into
Shueb Ahmed
The devices tab right so so this is the devices tab where you'll be seeing all the uh devices which are connected to the data
Shueb Ahmed
Center so these are the real uh physical devices that are connected to the data center and these are not simulators or emulators so pretty
Shueb Ahmed
Much have a mix of both Android and iOS so you can pretty much scroll down whichever device that you are looking in for this

Is just U uh you know uh I'm just showcasing how the platform looks like so let me just quickly jump into the my app

Data all right so this is the cloud location or the Cloud Drive given to every individual user right so where the user can upload
Shueb Ahmed
Their application so as as you have prepared for the xit test project and you have zipped that right the next step is to upload
Shueb Ahmed
Uh into the my app data which is a cloud location all right so you can click on just upload from and browse from your
Shueb Ahmed
Local repository the file that you have zipped the X test project that you have zipped in so you can directly browse from the from
Shueb Ahmed
Your local repository and upload so for the benefit of the time I have already uploaded I just like to showcase the application that I
Shueb Ahmed
Have so this is the zip file uh the XC test project that I have zipped and uploaded to the cloud it's pretty straightforward so

So once I'm done with that the next part is to go to get the API key okay so for every user has its individual
Shueb Ahmed
Unique uh API key so to access to the API key just click on your name and the drop down go to the settings tab
Shueb Ahmed
And uh you can get your API access key here as you can see so it's just fting so you can copy this you can
Shueb Ahmed
Copy the same API access key and uh you can now uh you are now ready with the uh you know testing uh for the
Shueb Ahmed
Exit test integration using Pcloudy is apis so we have provided certain uh apis right so there are some list of apis that we have

Pro provided in our documentation so we will uh look into it and uh see how we can use those apis and uh you know

Integrate with Qui platform and test uh our uh the the the script that we have just uploaded right so the next step is to

You know uh we need an API testing tool so it's been uh so for testing the apis all right so you can pretty much
Shueb Ahmed
Uh use your own uh API testing tool whichever you are using so I am using uh Postman here for that matter I've just launched

The postman so which will help me uh to get the uh the responses for the request that I'm going to send by using the
Shueb Ahmed
Apis that we have listed out all right so I'm using uh Postman here for uh sending the request

So let let us just quickly look at the uh the uh different apis uh that are required all right to execute so in our
Shueb Ahmed
Documentation we have pretty much provided all the different steps so uh so this these are the basic uh know the API that are required

All right so we need an uh you know authentic we need to authenticate the PE token to get an the OD token so for
Shueb Ahmed
Which we have got the API key from the settings tab and the next API is to get the list of devices all right so
Shueb Ahmed
To get the available list of devices on the cloud and then we will book the device which are all the devices that I want
Shueb Ahmed
I want to run the uh the test on specific devices and then uh we will be uploading the uh the AP the IPA file
Shueb Ahmed
Basically right so which we have already done so this p is we have already done we have uploaded the uh uh the the zip
Shueb Ahmed
File the the test project all right X test project and we will initialize and uh start the device services so device services this is
Shueb Ahmed
Something which is optional uh this is mainly on the performance metric side uh so if if you think if you need the performance metrics

Uh for your test XE test that you are going to perform then you can pretty much use this so there is a detailed documentation

Link uh for apis that we have listed out you can go into the API documentation link uh and get the relevant apis all right

From this so let's let's start the process uh let's get started by you know getting the you know authent let's authenticate the poud token

Uh so let me just go into the postman so this is my authentication request right so where I providing the username the username is
Shueb Ahmed
In my email ID and the password is the API key which I just uh uh generated uh from the P platform right so I
Shueb Ahmed
Can I just have I just copy pasted here and uh I can send this request let me quickly run send this the request is
Shueb Ahmed
Sent and I have got a successful token here I I just uh copy this token for my future uh future uh users uh I
Shueb Ahmed
Can I just copied this code all right the token which I have got it through this authentication now the next part is to get
Shueb Ahmed
The list of devices all right so let us go to the uh get IO is devices tab all right so where this is the
Shueb Ahmed
Uh the URL right device. pe.com where we are accessing to the API devices and uh these are the steps right we have to provide
Shueb Ahmed
The token so this is the token which we have got it from the authentication I'm passing the token here uh the duration uh I
Shueb Ahmed
Just mentioned is St 10 and the platform is IOS and available now is true so this will give me a list of iOS devices
Shueb Ahmed
Which are currently available in my public Cloud all right so just let me click on send here let me send this request so that
Shueb Ahmed
I get the relevant response to it as you can see I have got all the list of uh uh the devices that are available
Shueb Ahmed
Now I can choose uh which devices I want all right I can get the devices ID all right the devices ID and uh I
Shueb Ahmed
Can send in my subsequent request uh so that uh you know I book the device so the next step is to book the devices
Shueb Ahmed
All right so to book the devices so uh just make sure that you know you access the uh API documentation link where we have
Shueb Ahmed
Uh listed all our uh the uh uh the apis all right so this is the X test automation apis that we have listed so
Shueb Ahmed
You can get it so just for the benefit of the time I have already uh extracted got the apis and uh kept it ready

In the uh the postman so this is the place so the next option is to book the device so let me just go into

The postman and uh go for book uh booking the devices I can select the uh devices which are available here I can slowly just
Shueb Ahmed
Check with the devices whichever I want to run say for instance I want to run it on uh different devices right I can just
Shueb Ahmed
Copy I'll select iPhone 5S and iPhone 6 right let me just uh select these two and go into the automation booking where I will
Shueb Ahmed
Be providing the devices ID right so I can provide the uh devices ID here uh and uh let me just get the token copy
Shueb Ahmed
The token and just go into the [Music] automation booking and uh change the token ID and these are the devices ID which we have
Shueb Ahmed
Got in the iOS devices all right so 49 is iPhone 5S which I have pretty much given and uh let me take another whichever
Shueb Ahmed
Is available I have to make sure the device is available otherwise the script will fail the device will not get launched if it is
Shueb Ahmed
Not available right so you have to make sure that the device only you get the devices which are available and uh the next step
Shueb Ahmed
Is to another device which I can think of at this point is

I can just choose some other devices whichever is available so let me just take another device okay I think this uh pretty much available
Shueb Ahmed
Okay and now I can execute it uh so I'm booking two different devices here so you can run it on a single device or
Shueb Ahmed
If you want to run it on multiple devices just uh provide comma and followed by the device ID whichever the device is available so
Shueb Ahmed
You can pretty much uh provide and you will be providing the duration here uh for duration in minutes so I'll keep it as 30
Shueb Ahmed
And the automation type is an xoi test so let me just send I'm booking the devices if the devices are available then uh you
Shueb Ahmed
Know you can pretty much test this so as you can see in this case uh the devices are booked by some already by someone
Shueb Ahmed
Already so and hence I have to make sure that the device are available right so in this case let me just take a device
Shueb Ahmed
Which is available I just randomly to one device from my previous run so let me just uh take another device which is available at
Shueb Ahmed
This point of time I can see at different iPads iPhone

S let me just run it on 443 or I'm just curious to run it

On okay I can take this9 is [Music] there okay just a moment 3 to 3 to6 okay let me just take 3 to six

Here in this case six and try to hit run I'm just uh booking the devices here yeah as you can see the devices are

Reserved successfully for the automation now I can execute it as you would have noticed there is an automation ID as well all right which
Shueb Ahmed
Is uh created I can use this automation ID for my next steps so the next step is uh to initialize the automation all right
Shueb Ahmed
So I can initialize the automation I have got the apis uh for that so before that let me copy the token from my previous
Shueb Ahmed
Request go to the initialize paste the token and change the automation ID which we have got from the automation booking the automation ID is
Shueb Ahmed
This let me just take this automation ID as well and paste it in the uh initialize automation so here we are initializing the automation

Right so we have booked uh the uh devices those other devices are booked so no other user can use those devices which we have
Shueb Ahmed
Booked now I can uh initialize I can start my start the execution all right to start the execution I have to provide the the
Shueb Ahmed
Automation ID which we have got from the automation uh booking from the booking devices response and also the token let me also uh start
Shueb Ahmed
The device services so device Services is something which is optional but I would uh like to show how the uh the performance metrics you
Shueb Ahmed
Know would look like uh and also I'll capture the videos for it okay let me just take the automation ID and uh paste it

Okay I can now initialize the uh Kickstart the automation so I have provided the token which is a valid token which I've taken from

Theoretically you can pretty much run it as long as the devices are available but uh this will in the live view you will be
