Gestures
- Gesture testing on the 7.6" Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display (1848×2448)
Samsung’s Fold changed shape: a 4:3 main screen and a wider 5.5" cover screen. Layouts and video built for last year’s Fold meet new aspect ratios on both screens. Test on the real Galaxy Z Fold8 running One UI 9.
Key specifications, as published by Samsung India.
Compared with Galaxy Z Fold7.
The main screen is now 7.6" at 1848×2448 in 4:3, vs the Fold7’s 8" at 2184×1968. Video, feeds and grids built for the old ratio may letterbox, stretch or clip.
It is 5.5" at 1972×1248, vs 6.5" at 1080×2520. Folded, the device is 123.9 × 81.9 mm, vs 158.4 × 72.8 mm, so cover layouts need a fresh check.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy and One UI 9 replace Snapdragon 8 Elite and Android 16. It is also lighter at 201 g, with a bigger 4,800 mAh battery.
Galaxy Z foldables and Galaxy S flagships — all real, all on-demand.
Run manual, performance, visual and accessibility tests, or automate with Appium, Espresso, UiAutomator, etc. and CI/CD (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab, Azure DevOps, etc.). On the Galaxy Z Fold8 specifically:
feed.play(fullScreen = true) // Galaxy Z Fold8 · 4:3 pcloudy.screenshot() onView(withId(R.id.playerControls)).check(matches(isDisplayed()))
An Appium / Espresso script for One UI 9 that you can run on the real Galaxy Z Fold8. It captures a screenshot and checks that the controls are on screen. See the AI Suite →
Whether the video fills the 4:3 screen as you intended is still a visual judgement, so use the screenshots for that review. Split view stays a manual check.
Samsung calls the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra the direct upgrade to the previous Fold. The Fold8 is a new wider form factor with a 4:3 main screen.
