Enabling the Screen Reader Option on iOS Devices

Overview

Enabling the iOS Screen Reader (VoiceOver) is a critical step for testers and developers to validate an app’s accessibility and ensure it’s truly inclusive. By simulating the experience of visually impaired users, VoiceOver helps uncover hidden usability issues — such as unlabeled elements, incorrect reading order, and gesture navigation inconsistencies — that visual testing alone can’t detect. For testers, it’s an opportunity to verify compliance with accessibility standards like WCAG, while for developers, it provides direct insight into how well the app communicates through audio feedback and touch interaction. Ultimately, integrating screen reader testing into your QA process ensures every user, regardless of ability, can engage seamlessly with your app.
