Enabling Device Passcode on Pcloudy's Real Devices

Overview

The Device Passcode feature enables testers to activate screen lock security on real devices, including PIN, pattern, password, fingerprint, or face authentication. This allows teams to test mobile applications in an environment that closely mirrors real user conditions where devices are protected by security controls. By enabling a device passcode, testers can validate how apps behave during lock and unlock scenarios, handle secure sessions, and interact with device level authentication mechanisms across different devices.

What Is Device Passcode Testing?

Device Passcode Testing focuses on validating application behavior when device security is enabled. It covers interactions such as app access after unlocking the device, biometric prompts, secure data retrieval, background state handling, and session continuity after the device is locked. This ensures the app remains functional, secure, and user friendly even when device level security features are actively in use.

Why This Is Important

Most users protect their devices with a passcode or biometric lock. Testing without these settings can miss critical issues that surface only in secured environments.

Enabling device passcode helps teams:

  • Validate authentication and re authentication flows

  • Ensure sensitive data is protected when the device is locked

  • Verify app stability after lock and unlock interruptions

  • Detect issues with biometrics, secure storage, and OS level prompts

Testing under these conditions helps deliver a secure, reliable, and real world ready mobile experience.
